Equilibrium
Given everything i've heard about Ultraviolet, i am simply amazed that Equilibrium was written and directed by the same man. i decided to take a chance on Equilibrium, mainly because Christian Bale is the lead, and i have been dead impressed with his recent work, even going back a few years to American Psycho (it's been on cable recently, i missed it in the theater). i was expecting solid work from Mr. Bale, and he didn't disappoint. What i wasn't expecting was an unreasonably talented cast (Sean Bean, Taye Diggs, Angus MacFadyen, Emily Watson), and some of the more stunning art design and cinematography i've seen in a while. It seems Kurt Wimmer was drawing heavily on German Expressionism and Nazi propaganda, with heavy doses of Orwell. Oh, and he also invented the Gun Kata style of battle action that is introduced in Equilibrium. This all adds up to a movie that has cult classic written all over it.
If you haven't seen this flick, you should consider adding it to your Netflix queue. For serious. And if you have seen it, why the hell didn't you tell me about it?

gotta respect the gun-fu of Equilibrium... is it okay to call it "gun-fu?"
