Episode 6

Look out, here come major spoilers for the Heroes finale (fair warning, we were both a wee bit underwhelmed). Also, Buffy Season 8, general comics geekishness, phase variances, and an exclusive interview with Mr. Benjamin Kay, profanator at large.

Episode Five, baby

It's like the Year of the Woman, only not. On this episode, we discuss the gems of the Fox fall line-up (The Sarah Connor Chronicles, New Amsterdam, The Return of Jezebel James) and the re-imagined Bionic Woman. We also talk about the cursed genius of Wonderfalls, women as combat soldiers and fighter pilots, and the nature of kick-ass women in regular life. And gastrointestinal distress. You have been warned.

Finally, Ben Kay is on sabbatical this week, so we give you the lyrical stylings of the World's 579th Greatest Rapper instead. It's a little ditty called "I Hate Your Blog" and it's from the new album called "Secrets from the Future". Enjoy.

Oh my wow.

So i was listening to the second 7th Son hiatus cast, and J.C. Hutchins was interviewing Jerome Olivier about his amazing short film called Missing Pages (amended version). Go now and watch this. You won't be sorry. This is a haunting and moving piece that is also just too frakking cool for words.

Then go listen to J.C.'s interview, and hey, catch up on 7th Son while you're at it. The third volume begins 7/7/7 and you don't want to miss it. Trust me on this.

Daily Lit

Because reading two or three books at a time just isn't enough for me, i've upped my lit intake. There's this great site called Daily Lit where you can sign up to get free books one bitty piece at a time, through your email or through an RSS feed. Personally, i prefer the RSS feed because it feels more like "real" reading than email for some reason. You can read the segments as they come, or you can release several segments at once. Right now, i'm a little way through Cory Doctorow's Down and Out In the Magic Kingdom, which is one of the rare new books in the collection (thanks to Cory's liberal Creative Commons license of the novel).

It's one way to make the time for a few of those classic books you've been meaning to read.
