Game 7. One Night. One Ring.

Published

Crimson = The Desk's picksBlue = names and things to watch

The Desk did the homework. Six games, 3-3, and it comes down to one night in the Bay. Atlanta took Game 6 at home, 80-69, to force this, and every game in this series has been decided by defense. Five of six finals stayed under 145 combined points. Here's what I'm watching tonight.

Line and total from the Kulture Kast WNBA dashboard (Saturday 11:09 AM ET). The road team has won 3 of the 6 games: Atlanta took Game 2 out west, and Golden State won Games 4 and 5. Prices are the best on Outlier Saturday morning. Books differ, so check yours.

The Desk's take The number says Valkyries by a bucket because they're home. Our model says the Dream's offense has been better the last ten games. I'm not handing out home-court points in a Game 7 where the road team already won three times.

Who's out, and who picks up the volume

Valkyries: Iliana Rupert is out for the season. Dream: Te-Hina Paopao is questionable after sitting out Game 6. Status from Covers as of 11:09 AM ET.

The minutes story is the rotation, not injuries. Both coaches have shortened their benches. Veronica Burton played 38, 37 and 36 minutes the last three games, up from about 29 in the regular season. Rhyne Howard played 38 in Game 6.

The Desk's take In a Game 7 the starters live on the floor. I'm leaning on the players whose minutes have already climbed.

The Board: The Desk’s plays for Game 7

The Desk's pick

Rhyne Howard over 14.5 points at 1.83 · Kast It: Love

Last game: 21 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists in 38 minutes. Finals: 12, 5, 16, 19, 20, 21. She's climbed every game since Game 2 and cleared this line four straight. The model has her at 19 points on 37-plus minutes.

The Desk's pick

Jordin Canada over 9.5 points at 1.77 · Kast It: Like

Last game: 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists in 34 minutes. Finals: 8, 13, 10, 10, 12, 10. Five of six in the Finals, and she's run the offense every night. A 9.5 asks her to do what she's already doing.

The Desk's pick

Angel Reese over 14.5 points at 1.77 · Kast It: Love

Last game: 15 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists in 35 minutes. Finals: 14, 30, 21, 8, 7, 15. Games 4 and 5 were rough, but she bounced back in Game 6 with 15 and 14 boards. The model has her at 18, and the putbacks alone give her a floor.

The Desk's pick

Veronica Burton over 18.5 points + rebounds + assists at 1.93 · Kast It: Love

Last game: 8 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists in 36 minutes. Last 3 games: 21, 24 and 18 PRA. Burton has gone from 29 regular-season minutes to almost 37 in this series, and the PRA has followed. Two of the last three cleared this line and the third missed by half a point.

The Desk's take All four plays come down to minutes and role. Nobody here needs a career night, just the same night they've been having.

Georgia vs Florida in Atlanta: Baugh carries the Gators, Georgia splits the load.

Alright, Kulture Kast, the Cocktail Party comes to Atlanta this year. Georgia is an 11.5-point favorite over Florida, the total is 56.5, and kickoff is 3:30 PM ET. Here is where the touches go and what we like.

Spread and total from the Kulture Kast college dashboard, Saturday 10:28 AM ET (DraftKings lines via Covers). Books differ, so check yours.

Florida runs through Baugh

Jadan Baugh is the Florida offense on the ground. My dashboard has him for about 16 carries and 84 rushing yards, with a middle outcome of 75. No other Florida running back projects for more than 4 carries. That is why his touchdown chance sits at 50 percent, the highest of anyone in this game.

Through the air, the targets spread out. Dallas Wilson projects for about 5 targets and Vernell Brown III about 4, with nobody else over 4. That spread is why I like the unders on the Florida receivers.

The Desk's take Florida has one back who gets the ball, and Georgia has three. That tells you where to look for the touchdown and where to look for unders.

Georgia splits the backfield three ways

Nate Frazier, Dwight Phillips Jr. and Chauncey Bowens each project for 6 or 7 carries, and Bo Walker adds about 4 more. When the carries are split like that, no single back has a clear path to a big yardage day. Phillips projects for a middle outcome of about 32 rushing yards.

Isiah Canion (leg) is out for Georgia, per Covers. In the passing game, Talyn Taylor leads the Georgia receivers at about 4 targets, and London Humphreys projects for about 2 or 3.

The Board: The Desk’s plays for Georgia vs Florida

The Desk's pick

Jadan Baugh anytime touchdown at 1.73 · Kast It: Love

Our model gives Baugh a 50 percent touchdown chance, the best in the game. Best price on Outlier, and it shows him scoring in 9 of his last 10 games and 86 percent of his games this season. The risk: Georgia's defense keeps Florida out of the red zone.

The Desk's pick

Dallas Wilson under 4.5 receptions at 2.06 · Kast It: Love

Our model has Wilson for about 3.5 catches. After I take 5 points off to stay honest, I have the under at about 65 percent. Best price on Outlier, and it shows him under this line in 8 of his last 10. I also like him under 57.5 receiving yards (middle outcome 37.5). The risk: Florida trails and throws more than usual.

The Desk's pick

Dwight Phillips Jr. under 52.5 rushing yards · Kast It: Love

Our model's middle outcome is 32 yards, and I have the under at about 66 percent after the 5-point haircut. Outlier shows him over this number in only 3 of his last 10. Outlier only lists the over, so check your book for the under price. The risk: Georgia builds a big lead and he gets the late carries.

Lean extras

London Humphreys under 26.5 receiving yards (middle outcome 17, about 60 percent after the haircut; Outlier shows the over in only 2 of his last 10). Vernell Brown III under 4.5 receptions (about 3.3 projected catches and about 70 percent after the haircut, but the best price on Outlier is 1.51, so it is expensive). Both are Leans for me today.

The Desk's call
Georgia 34, Florida 22. Kast it.

Georgia has the deeper roster and three backs to wear Florida down. Baugh keeps Florida in it early, but the Bulldogs cover the 11.5.
