Okay, okay. The Thunder opened 1–0 and they're 7.5-point favorites at home. So the question's simple, and Don-K's got it right here: does Denver have the wing size and the shot-making to keep it close, or does the OKC defense take over by the third quarter? Let's go.

Shai is Shai'ing

He dropped 32 on San Antonio in the opener. Last season against Denver? 34, 36, 35. SI's points line is 30.5. Do I need to tell you why that's a heavy-volume matchup? The only thing that can slow him down is a blowout, because then he's on the bench in the fourth.

Don-K's take Shai benefits most, with the blowout caveat.

Thunder defense vs. Denver's offense

OKC ranked first in defense last year. Denver was 21st. So Denver has to make shots to keep up. The good news for them: the starting five is fully intact (Jamal Murray, Christian Braun, Cameron Johnson, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Jokic). The bad news: that's still a lot of grinding against the best defense in the league.

Don-K's take The Thunder win this matchup unless Denver gets hot from three.

Who's missing in OKC

Otega Oweh, Thomas Sorber and Nikola Topic are out. I couldn't find a published rotation, so this part is Don-K's read: Cason Wallace, Jared McCain and Ajay Mitchell are already the guard depth, and they cover those minutes. We confirm it after the official report around 5:30 PM ET.

Don-K's take Wallace, McCain and Mitchell keep their minutes or get more.

Who's missing in Denver

Julian Strawther is out and Spencer Jones is questionable. The predicted second unit has Alpha Diallo in Strawther's spot and rookie Trevon Brazile covering for Jones, next to Tyus Jones, DeMar DeRozan and Marvin Bagley III. Coach Adelman wants a 10-man rotation and doesn't want starters playing with the second unit. After DeRozan, that bench is thin on proven scorers.

Don-K's take Diallo and Brazile get the minutes. DeRozan is the bench's only real bucket-getter.

The Board: Don-K's picks for tonight

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over 30.5 points at −111 (1.90)

He cleared 30 in the opener and in all three games against Denver last year. The risk is game script.
